El Monte Kongō (Kongōsan, 金剛山, 1.125 m) se encuentra en la frontera entre las prefecturas de Osaka y Nara. Incluye el punto más alto de la prefectura de Osaka y es venerado como montaña sagrada desde tiempos antiguos. La tradición de la «subida diaria» está muy arraigada y muchos montañeros llevan un conteo de sus ascensos — es uno de los picos más concurridos del Kansai durante todo el año.
Desde la estación Kawachi-Nagano, el autobús Nankai conecta directamente con el trailhead Kongō. Desde la estación Tondabayashi se combinan el autobús Nankai y el bus comunitario de Chihaya-Akasaka para llegar al trailhead Kongō.

⚠ Autobús directo suspendido tras el cese del Bus Kongō (desde el 20 de diciembre de 2023)
El autobús directo de la estación Tondabayashi al trailhead Katsuragi / paso Mizukoshi ha sido suprimido. Actualmente hay que tomar el «Kongō Furusato Bus» (bus comunitario de los 4 municipios) hasta la parada «Higashi-Mikumari» y luego seguir a pie.
- Higashi-Mikumari → Trailhead Katsuragi: unos 45 min a pie (cuesta arriba)
- Higashi-Mikumari → Paso Mizukoshi: unos 70 min a pie (cuesta arriba)

6.【Regreso】Paso Mizukoshi → Trailhead Katsuragi → Estación Tondabayashi

El autobús directo del paso Mizukoshi / trailhead Katsuragi a la estación Tondabayashi ha sido suprimido. Al descender hay que regresar a pie a la parada «Higashi-Mikumari» y desde allí tomar el «Kongō Furusato Bus» hacia la estación Tondabayashi.
